Who We Are

We're Family

Since 1982, Medical Services has proudly provided in home, private duty nursing care to Northwest Florida.  In fact, we're one of the few family-owned and operated Licensed Home Health agencies remaining in Florida.  We attribute our success to a Patient focused operation and our commitment to our 24/7 availability to our patients and nurses. When you call either of our offices you'll speak to one of our team members who will know you and your loved one by name. No case numbers, pure personal, family oriented care is what you can expect.

Care Givers You Can Trust

All of our nurses are licensed and insured.  Each undergo rigorous credentialing, background screenings and a series of interviews and orientations before entering a patient's home.   We pride ourselves on quality care and availability, and each of nurses reflects this in the care they provide to each patient.   Each skilled nursing patient receives a personalized, in-depth assessment of their current medical condition, overall health, and environment. This information is used to create an individualized care plan that is tailored to the patient’s unique physical and emotional needs.

Differences between Home Health Agencies

As a licensed State certified Home Healthcare agency we have

Employee /employer relationships with our caregivers.

We have an obligation to monitor, supervise, manage and train our Nurses and ensure up to date qualifications and continuing education.

We have Registered nurse managers that direct and supervise each case and monitor delivery of patient care in the home as well as creating plans of care in collaboration with your Doctors, Practitioner's, DME  and case managers.

Licensed Home health agencies like Medical Services of NW Florida are regulated and inspected by the Florida Agency for Healthcare and provide full workers’ compensation, liability and malpractice insurance, as well as take full responsibility for all employees’ conduct and behavior and provide RN Directors Physician ordered supervision.

Licensing and Certification

To ensure the quality and safety of home health care services in Florida, the state has established specific licensing and certification requirements for both home health agencies and home health care professionals.

Licensing Requirements for Home Health Agencies

In Florida, home health agencies must obtain a license to operate and provide home health care services. These licensing requirements are in place to protect patients and ensure that agencies meet certain standards of care. To become licensed, home health agencies must comply with the following criteria:

  • Administrative Requirements: Home health agencies must meet certain administrative requirements, such as having a designated administrator responsible for the agency's operations and compliance with regulations.
  • Financial Stability: Agencies must demonstrate financial stability and ability to cover the costs associated with providing home health care services.
  • Background Checks: The agency's owners, administrators, and employees must undergo thorough background checks to ensure they do not have a history of criminal offenses that could compromise patient safety.
  • Clinical Competency: Home health agencies must demonstrate clinical competency and maintain a qualified staff to deliver high-quality care to patients.

  • Education and Training: Professionals must complete appropriate education and training programs approved by the state. These programs equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective home health care.
  • Competency Evaluation: Home health care professionals must undergo competency evaluations to assess their ability to perform essential tasks and responsibilities related to patient care.
  • Background Checks: Similar to agencies, home health care professionals must undergo background checks to ensure they do not have a history of criminal offenses that could jeopardize patient safety.
  • Continuing Education: To maintain their certification, professionals are required to participate in ongoing education and training programs to stay updated with the latest developments in the field of home health care.

By adhering to these licensing and certification requirements, both home health agencies and professionals contribute to the establishment of a regulated and reliable home health care system in Florida. This ensures that patients receive the highest quality care and can trust the services provided by Medical Services for over 40 years. Our dedication, experience, and compassion sets us apart from other home care providers, and we work diligently to ensure we provide all patients with the best possible care.
